i should be dead.  during this trip there were multiple times, actually within the 15 hours of each other, that death was an inch a way, a second longer, an ounce less of water.  this is not to boast, for only fools boast that they should be dead.  rather this is to bring to the forefront of this series the importance of these fotografs.  the Lord is merciful.
after a night of restless sleep on top of this cliff, i awoke before the sun arose in order to document it's rising and grabbed both cameras (film and digital) to do so.  after i had shot a full roll of bw, i soon realized i had accidentally set the camera iso opposite the speed film; furthermore, i completely forgot to compensate for this early early morning error in the development process.  the end result is complete satisfaction. i am very glad that i screwed up everything.  the memories of the day before (for example, nearly falling from the cliff) where reflected upon the glory of the morning next.  enjoy.

surprisingly, i didn't make many pictures of the holidays.  let's see... i was near death with some virus around christmas, i feel asleep before 11pm on new years eve, and i played too much clue - the board game - to pick up the camera.  okay, i did make a few fotos.  i went down to the grandparents and hung out with family.  i traveled to new york for an amazing wedding of some friends (i actually attended it) on new years day. so here are a few snippets of my holidays; many of them ended up being of my grandad.  i couldn't help it, you know, he's just that interesting.  all in all, i think the holidays were well celebrated.  how was yours?

Shaun, i think you made that picture of Alex - i only remember taking a picture of you shirtless...

Growing up, I was terrified of that shed and their basement - I still am a little.

I see so much of your grandpa in you.
This is a compliment.

second time i've ever been to NY and it was well worth it.  i attended my first wedding in over a year and a half.  that's right, i actually didn't work.  but i did sneak a picture or two the day of.  Dan and Kristen are very lovely and kind and big-hearted friends that are the type of people that can change any kind of environment to a more joyful one.  the wedding was simply splendid, not because i got to dance the night away, but because the wedding was full of the overflowing love they had one another.  CONGRATULATIONS Dan and Kristen!!  i'm excited to see what the Lord has for you both in the coming years!

i took some amateur video of the reception...maybe i'll post that here.

Thanks! Now, if I can only get a stabilizer and a few mics, I'd consider filming weddings :)

Awesome video Jonathan. I'm glad you captured the double hair flip from Tan-man.

J.FREY says: Tuesday, January 5, 2010, 10:57 AM

I made him do it multiple times, there just wasn't enough umph in his previous attempts. Or just maybe he's not that good at flipping his hair?
